It is now May, the last month of my exchange. As I begin packing (right?!) with the sun on my back, I do not feel ready to leave. Luckily, I have two last weeks to visit all my favorite spots and try spots I have yet to cross off my list. Two last weeks to prepare myself to leave this beautiful country. Sunday night, Laura, Sierra, and I went for a walk around the city. At nine, when we left, the sun had just begun to set. At ten, when we returned (yes, it only took an hour to walk around the entire city), the sky was still exceptionally light. Apparently Iceland gains six minutes of daylight a day, though don't quote me on that. Looking out our windows at about 11:30 PM we can still see the sun just above the horizon... it's pretty amazing. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday consisted of a great deal of studying, as I had my last final exam on Friday. Thursday night I took a break from the books, and joined Sierra and Laura in making yet another breakfast for dinner. Such a delicious meal :) Friday, at 1:30, I began my Marketing Plans exam. Four questions and three hours later, I was officially done with my studies at the University of Iceland, wohoo! That night we went to a place we had walked passed many times, always looking in the window and saying "we need to go here sometime for happy hour". It was a lovely little bar/restaurant called Forréttabarinn, with a nice atmosphere and a kind bartender. On our walk home, we treated ourselves to some ice cream, as it was our official last night with just the three of us. Last night I was able to try another new place on my list called Tíu dropar. It is a cafe, though the atmosphere more suits a night out than a day studying. There, I met up with two Fulbright students I have befriended over my time in Iceland. We talked, drank wine, and listened to a charming cello/piano duo. Today has been cleaning and packing day. Oh how the time flies!
